An Amazing Day at The Broadgate Tower Run Up 2018

It was fantastic to spend the afternoon at The Broadgate Tower Run Up on Saturday and meet so many people off all ages who are so enthusiastic about stair climbing.

Over 300 people took part in the event and completed roughly 1000 ascents of the 35 floors throughout the day. The event started with the elite stair climbers taking on the London leg of the Vertical World Circuit where the women’s race was won by Sarah Frost in a record breaking 5 mins 4 secs whilst the men’s event was won by Ignacio Torres in a searingly quick time of 4 minutes 2 seconds.

Not to be discouraged by the incredible pace set by the pros the StepJockey team took to the stairs at 2.30pm. After being lead through a vigorous warm up by the Total Motion Events team 20 of the StepJockey family tackled the stairs with amazing enthusiasm.

A huge shout out to our CEO Zed Vakil who ran a very respectable time of 10 minutes 39 seconds as well as Oliver Levey who blitzed the stairs in 9 minutes 40 seconds and an extra special mention to Leo O’Neill who at just 7 years of age ran an incredible 10 minutes and 41 seconds.

However, the winner of the StepJockey Wave of The Broadgate Tower Run Up was Christian Morrow with an unbelievable time of 6:55 and special mention to Graeme Ludlow and our brand ambassador Juliana Campos for coming in second and third respectively.

Whilst it was amazing to see everyone put in such great times what the day was really about was raising money for StreetGames. In total the StepJockey team has raised £3,935 for a really amazing cause (there are still a few donations coming in!). Thank you to everyone who raised money and everyone who took part in what was an amazing day.

Thanks to our StepJockey stair climbing champs; Cordelia Best, Christian Morrow, Juliana Campos, Meze Hondus, Natalia Shvitcki, Graeme Ludlow, Tannaz Kowssari, Colette Vakil, Emma-Louise O’Neill and very special thanks to the children Sophia, Roman, Leo and Pepe...

Finally a massive thank you to Matt Hudson and the whole Total Motion Events team. The work that went into organising such a successful event from the elite race through to all the various stair climbs that took place throughout the day was incredible. It was a privilege to be involved in such a high quality event.

We can’t wait for the next one - see you all in 2019!
