Zarir Vakil

CEO

Zarir Vakil

Zarir (Zed) started his career with multi-national organizations where he cut his teeth. After a decade with multinationals, Zed joined a private equity company, where held an Investment Director portfolio, as well as a pivotal strategic Group HR Director role. After designing shared services functions for the Group, Zarir acquired venture funding internally, setting up his own new company, Worksource, providing companies affordable commoditised HR outsourcing solutions and business performance consultancy.

Following to a successful long term assignment, Zed was offered a permanent board position by one of his clients, and this led Zed holding a number of senior commercial positions in the insurance, healthcare and private banking sectors, where he renewed client propositions and developed new business.

In recent years, Zed has used his wide experience to provide consultancy and interim executive and non executive director services; to plan and develop new organisations, project manage change and transformation programmes, and advise on business and people performance improvement.

Laura Thomas

Laura is a certified health coach and has a background in behavioural change having coached 100’s of clients through her private practice to reduce their sugar intake. Having run health trainings for a number of organisations, her experience in delivering and communicating health messages in a pragmatic way, Laura truly understands and is an advocate for the power of small lifestyle habit changes.

Transferring her experience towards the next big health concern - sedentary behaviour, Laura is has been our Workplace Health Specialist for over a year, advising clients on their wellbeing programmes and supporting them to get started on their first stair climbing programme for maximum impact.

With a former career in management consulting at IBM specialising in real estate management, Laura also provides specialist expertise to our property clients who are looking enhance health through the built environment.

It’s fair to say that Laura enforces health in every sense around the StepJockey office where she’s never without a salad and the darkest of chocolate! Outside of work you’ll find her ballroom dancing or writing for her personal blog.

Sophie Kempthorne

Sophie Kempthorne

Joining StepJockey in 2016 Sophie leads the Client Services team working in partnership with our clients to embed health enhancing programmes in the workplace providing expert advice on disrupting sedentary habits and engaging employees in the adoption and sustainability of an active workplace culture.

After starting out in the renewable energy sector to deliver community benefit programmes for local energy projects, before hanging up the high vis for a move into internal communications, Sophie brings with her a strong understanding of effective stakeholder management and the key drivers for employee engagement.

Outside of StepJockey Sophie enjoys exploring new restaurants and always has great recommendations for the London team whenever she is in town!

Matt has held many roles across the digital and technology sector throughout his career, this gives him great context and perspective when working on digital products and services. He’s constantly striving to create a robust and scalable technology platform that puts the user's experience at the center of our thinking.

Matt has been part of the StepJockey team since 2014 and has guided the StepJockey product through numerous stages of development. Outside of work Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children as well as being an active member of Cornwall Tech community.

Emma-Louise O’Neill

Emma-Louise joined the StepJockey team in 2018 bringing with her over two decades of marketing and brand awareness expertise. Passionate about developing corporate brands through innovative brand strategies, Emma-Louise has brought a whirlwind of energy to StepJockey’s marketing activity.

With her strong background in marketing and communications Emma-Louise had also been crucial in developing StepJockey’s employee engagement strategy, working closely with our clients to continually improve our programmes.

Outside of work Emma-Louise loves to travel as well as spending time teaching her son about the importance of staying active, mostly by running around parks trying to catch Pokémon!

Maria Tzegka

Maria joined StepJockey in early 2018 and has brought a fresh and exciting angle to our team. With experience in digital marketing and business development.

Maria speaks seven, that’s right seven, languages and has an M.A in Executive Management and a B.A in International Relations & Finance. Maria’s passion for making people healthier and happier at work combined with her infectious enthusiasm has made a great addition to our team.

Maria is collaborating with major property asset management companies in the UK and EMEA. Her expertise on designing bespoke wellness programmes and wellbeing strategy for corporate and property companies has helped many organisations to transform their wellness programmes. Also, Maria has established long term partnerships with her clients and designed programmes that are having a great impact on employee engagement.

Outside of work Maria loves fashion and is constantly attempting to improve the dress sense at StepJockey!

Eva Fernandes

Eva Fernandes

Eva joined the StepJockey team at the beginning of 2018 and brings a wealth of experience from the sports industry. Eva obtained an MsC in Sport Science from both The Academy of Physical Education in Poland and University Marne La Vallee in France.

Eva has worked in sporting organisations in Poland, France and the UK where she looked after a wide range of corporate clients. Following on from her work in the fitness industry Eva took her talents to the London 2012 Olympic Committee and she also gained experience in technology for mass participation sporting events.

Outside of work Eva is a mother to an energetic toddler and she is always looking for ways to bring healthy habits into her family life.

Oliver Levey

Oliver Levey

Oliver has over 5 years experience in the fitness industry and managerial experience in various industries. Oliver joined StepJockey in 2018 as a client executive and is responsible for advising HR and facilities departments on improving the health and wellbeing for employees and tenants within the corporate environment.

Oliver joined StepJockey from Aspire@Southfields, a large community-based charity that focuses on youth sporting development and adult community learning within the London borough of Wandsworth. Here, Oliver was the General Manager / Adult Learning Manager from 2015 – 2018 and constructed, oversaw the growth strategy and operations within Aspire@Southfields. Oliver holds multiple qualifications in the fitness industry and is passionate about health and wellbeing in all aspects of life, professional and personal.

Oliver has a Bsc Hons Sport & Exercise Science from Oxford Brookes University as well as being a Registered Exercise Professional.

Oscar Moore

Oscar Moore

Oscar didn’t know what operations were when he first joined StepJockey as a marketing and digital media intern in 2017. Now he can’t get enough!

In addition to his marketing role promoting the StepJockey brand and the message of anti-sedentary behaviour across all platforms Oscar has begun to expand his responsibilities into Operations, keeping StepJockey running smoothly(ish).

Oscar studied History of Art (BA) at the University of Bristol and before working at StepJockey he worked for the arts education charity The Big Draw.

Outside of StepJockey Oscar likes to play basketball (badly) and covers the NBA for websites around the world.

Imogen Kenny

Imogen has been a breath of fresh air since joining the StepJockey team in December 2017. Invigorating the Cornwall team with her passion for health and fitness.

StepJockey was lucky to snap up Imogen’s talents straight out of University, where she achieved a first class degree in Geography from The University of the West of England as well as a qualification in Leadership and Management. Since joining the team Imi has been crucial in revolutionising our Client Services Department as well as ensuring our clients receive all the support they need to carry out their programme.

Outside of work you’ll find Imogen running half marathons or enjoying the Cornish weather on her paddle board. Always looking out for the next fitness trend Imogen recently attained her Fitness Instructor Qualification.

Thomas Bennett-Hughes

One of the many fresh faces of 2018, Thomas joined StepJockey as part of the Client Services team working in partnership with our clients to ensure an exciting and engaging StepJockey programme.

Thomas studied Modern Languages (BA) Spanish w/ proficiency in French at the University of Exeter, including a 9-month stint abroad. A love for interacting with people lead Thomas to StepJockey where he hopes to eventually put his language skills to use with some Spanish clients!

In his free time, you can usually find him near a cricket field or near the sea fishing!

John Smith

John has over 25 years experience in media and print. At StepJockey John oversees designs and illustrates of all the StepJockey brand and graphics. John has worked on and developed the powerful StepJockey brand from the companies conception. He also runs his own Graphic Design consultancy with broad range of boutique and national clients.

In a previous life John was Head of Graphics at The Sunday Times, UK for 15 years.

He has won numerous awards during his career including the Society for News Design & Malofief awards.

In his spare time John plays guitar, scuba dives and harbours a secret passion for video games as well as generally avoiding people.

Ben’s passion for all things tech at StepJockey is built on his foundation degree in Web Technology from Truro College and then continuing on to a Computing degree from Plymouth University.

Recognised by Chambers Guide and Legal 500 as a leading UK lawyer. Co-founder of PanicGuard and joined the Board in June 2012.
